I am the photographer formerly (and currently) known as Dennis Dixson. I am from St. Louis, Missouri which is the cultural and spiritual nexus of the universe… well almost. I like taking photos and usually have at least one or two cameras with me all the time which can be annoying to other people around me who object to suddenly becoming subjects in whatever project I happen to be working on at the moment.
I like new cameras, old cameras, toy cameras, film cameras, digital cameras and hacking away in Photoshop when I get the chance. My current tool of choice is a Nikon D300 and a smattering of old glass I had laying around from my Nikon D70 and Nikon 6006 and Nikon 8008. Nikon, Nikon, Nikon… I like the sound of that. I usually have a Canon camera in my pocket as well. My latest fling is with the iPhone. I’m having a blast taking photos and uploading them directly to the web.
At the moment I’m lucky enough to have a day job that pays the bills so I am free to photograph whatever I want most of the time and that is pretty cool. I have had photos published in a couple of local magazines, had a solo gallery show, been in a couple of group shows and have done a few weddings. Occasionally I get pressed into service as a commercial photographer taking photos of real estate projects and shooting photos for big time corporate web sites.
I’m fond of good food and travel. I swear I’m not a collector but I do seem to have more than a reasonable amount of old cameras laying around the house, which are all worth under five dollars on days when the market is up.
