Flight Risk

flightThere is something in the eyes that tells you they are about to run.

The St. Louis Strobist Group had a meet-up on Saturday. There were lots of creative types there sharing ideas and information about lighting. Those guys always give me a serious case of gear envy but that’s OK because they always generously share their lighting gear and experience.

I took a few photos and probably should have taken more but I was having such a good time talking to everyone that I got sidetracked.

Now if I could only get started on my other portrait project…

Strobist info: This is pretty simple. SB600 with blue gel camera left pointed at a sidewall 1/2 power. SB600 camera right with red gel pointed at the opposite wall 1/2 power. Sunpak 383 at 1/2 power on stand above camera right through umbrella. ISO 200, f/5.6 at 1/250 second. I also did some curves adjustments afterwards to increase the contrast a bit.

The weather has turned lousy again today and meanwhile I have come down with my second cold of the winter. I’m very tired this afternoon but there is snow falling here so I am thinking about going for a walk and as usual about getting something to eat.

  1. I like the idea of a meetup to try out other peoples flash gear. I think the best way to learn is to have a group of knowledgeable people lighting the way.
